These nations – Afghanistan, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakishtan, Singapore, Sir Lanka and Thailand – later formed an advisory panel to the world-renowned Japanese architect, Professor Kenzo Tange, in his preparation of the Master Plan for Lumbini's development. Three additional countries, namely Bangladesh, Bhutan and the Republic of Korea, later joined the effort.
Today the Lumbini Development Trust administers and coordinates the on-going effort to restore Lumbini. That effort, led by Government of Nepal, includes technical assistance from the United Nations Development Programme as well as international contributions from many nations. |
